Nancy Breen, Ph.D.
Dr. Nancy Breen is an economist at the Office of Strategic Planning, Legislation, and Scientific Policy. Her work includes developing health disparities databases and information technology (IT) systems; disseminating health disparities methods, measurements, and IT systems via workshops, conferences, and publications; initiating and leading research on various aspects related to the economic burden of health disparities; and working with data management, analyses, and scientific reviews.
Dr. Breen’s research and areas of interest include methods and measurement science for health disparities research; the economic burden of health disparities; health services, especially prevention services; and the socioeconomic determinants of health disparities.
Prior to coming to NIMHD, Dr. Breen was an economist for the National Cancer Institute for 25 years. She has a Ph.D. in economics from the New School of Social Research and BA (double major) in political science and French from California State College, Fullerton.
