NIMHD is partnering with the National, Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in the Breathe Better Network, a partnership of organizations around the United States working to raise awareness about lung health at the local level. The Network helps to increase understanding of medical management of lung health, while encouraging people to actively talk to their health care providers about their lungs and signs and symptoms they may be experiencing.

Supported by the Learn More Breathe Better program, the Breathe Better Network provides educational resources on lung health topics for people with and at risk for lung diseases, family members and caregivers, and health care providers.

Breathe Better Network partners include state and federal agencies, nonprofits, civic groups, professional associations, health systems, and research organizations. All participating organizations have a mission that aligns with the Learn More Breathe Better program goal and objectives. NIMHD aims to reduce lung health disparities, including asthma, which is more commonly found in Puerto Ricans than in other racial and ethnic groups. Learn more.

Each year, Breathe Better Network partners are encouraged to participate in Asthma Awareness Month in May and other national observances focused on lung health.
