Background

Dr. David Banks is a Health Scientist Administrator at NIMHD where he serves as a resource in the Office of Extramural Research Activities for program evaluation including grants, review and extramural policy.

He began his federal career at the National Institutes of Health as a research training officer within the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). He represented NINR on the NIH Program Leadership Committee, Training and Advisory Committee, and Diversity Program Consortium. Prior to joining NIH, he was an American Society of Association Executives, Certified Association Executive with several national nonprofit organizations including the American Red Cross, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and Volunteers of America.

Dr. Banks earned a Ph.D. in human development from the University of Maryland, an M.P.H. in health behavior and health education from the University of North Carolina, a Master of Science in Social Work, from the University of Texas, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University.
