Health Disparities Research Institute

Held annually, NIMHD’s flagship training program, the Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI), helps early-career investigators understand the intersections between science, policy, and practice while learning about methods and cutting-edge issues in minority health and health disparities science.

The Stephen I. Katz Early-Stage Investigator Research Project Grant supports an innovative project in an area of science that represents a change in research direction for an early-stage investigator (ESI) and for which no preliminary data exist.

NIMHD participates in NIH’s Loan Repayment Program, which invests in early-stage investigators with financial supports for their educational debt, so they can continue working on cutting-edge research and health discoveries as they pursue becoming independent NIH investigators.
