Dr. Wioletta “Viola” Szeszel-Fedorowicz is a statistician in NIMHD’s Office of Science Policy, Planning, Evaluation, and Reporting. She plans, develops, and performs data analysis and data dissemination pertaining to minority health and health disparities, which involves collaborating with professionals internal and external to NIMHD.

Previously, Dr. Szeszel-Fedorowicz worked at the Health Resources and Services Administration, where she provided statistical expertise for the National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses data collection and dissemination and the Area Health Resources Files. She has held prior positions as a mathematical statistician at the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products, where she conducted a variety of statistical work supporting the center’s mission to protect Americans from tobacco-related disease and deaths; and at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, where she assessed for injury risks and adverse health issues associated with consumer products.

Dr. Szeszel-Fedorowicz has a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Wroclaw, Poland and a M.Sc. in statistics from West Virginia University. She completed postdoctoral training in molecular biology, with a focus on gene expression, at West Virginia University.
