She is dedicated to enabling innovative research to improve health for all. Her expertise and scientific leadership are leveraged by various NIMHD programs focused on supporting integrative research spanning epidemiology, biopsychosocial determinants of health, environmental exposures, clinical-translational sciences, multiomics (e.g. genomics, exposomics, epigenomics, proteomics, microbiomics, transcriptome, epigenome, and metabolome), quantitative methods, qualitative approaches, implementation science, and community-driven initiatives.
Prior to NIMHD, Dr. Martin was stationed within NIH’s Office of the Director, the National Human Genome Research Institute, the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, and the National Cancer Institute. Her experience as a program director includes administrative oversight and extramural support of cancer clinical trials; and extramural support of cancer clinical trials; research contracts dedicated to global and domestic transfusion medicine research capacity and blood safety; large-scale multinational omics innovation collaborations; workforce development and training awards, and domestic research in early environmental exposures on child health and development.
