
Dr. Anuradha Dipak Patel

Background
Dr. Anuradha Dipak Patel is a program official in the Division of Clinical and Health Services Research at NIMHD. In her role, Dr. Patel manages a diverse grant portfolio containing research, training and capacity building grants. Her interests include surgical disparities, improving health outcomes for children with a special focus on premature infants, general surgery, rural health care access and how patient interactions with clinical personnel affect health outcomes.
Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a medical doctorate from The University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. She also completed two years of general surgery residency at The University of Toledo.
Prior to joining NIMHD, Dr. Patel served two years as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. During this appointment she produced several publications and presentations.
