Background

Dr. Kimberly Leeks is a senior health science policy analyst in the Office of Science Policy, Planning, Evaluation, & Reporting. She coordinates strategic planning, evaluation, and reporting related to minority health and health disparities.

Previously, Dr. Leeks worked as a health scientist/evaluator at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Specializing in program evaluation and outcome assessment, her work has included developing appropriate and measurable indicators and performance measurement systems; conducting systematic reviews of evidence-based practices; and conducting evaluations of programmatic research to determine effectiveness to drive informed decisions. She has experience and extensive training in behavioral science methodology, theory, and evaluation; systematic review methodology; and design, implementation, and evaluation of community-based research.

Additionally, Dr. Leeks has participated in grant/proposal preparation and review; developed cooperative agreements and funding opportunity announcements; instituted quality control/assurance procedures; coordinated the primary peer review process for extramural funding; led instrument design, evaluation and analysis plan development, and quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.

Dr. Leeks received a Ph.D. in health education and health promotion from the University of Alabama at Birmingham/University of Alabama, Master of Public Health in Health Behavior/Health Education from Emory University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Spelman College.
