Solicited & Investigator-Initiated Research
NIMHD supports a wide variety of Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs) related to solicited and investigator-initiated research projects grants (RPGs, e.g., R01, R21, R03, R15, R41/R42, R43/R44) within the Institute’s 3 extramural research divisions:
- Clinical and Health Services Research
- Integrative Biological and Behavioral Sciences
- Community Health and Population Science
Solicited research projects are funded under various Requests for Applications (RFAs).
Investigator-initiated research projects are funded under NIH-wide “parent” Program Announcements (PAs), as well as PAs or PARs targeting specific scientific topics (see list of programs below).
NIMHD also supports several Notices of Special Interest (NOSIs) related to a specific scientific area linked to an active NOFO.
All projects must focus on one or more populations experiencing health disparities.
Toward alignment with NIMHD’s goals and priorities, we strongly encourage prospective grantees to contact extramural program officials before submitting applications whether in response to topic-based or parent grant funding announcements.
