Jimmy Do is chief of the Financial Management Branch at NIMHD. In this role, he provides organizational insights into financial planning, analysis, and management programs, facilitating funding for the extramural and intramural scientific communities to support, conduct, and advance medical research.
Mr. Do began his federal budgeting and financial management career in 2002. Over his 22-year tenure at the NIH, he has held budget positions at the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Human Genome Research Institute, and National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). Before joining the NIH, Mr. Do gained experience in the private investment banking industry, county government, and real estate investment trusts.
Most recently, Mr. Do served as the acting associate director for the management/executive officer at NIDCR. Mr. Do is actively involved in multiple NIH working groups and is a key participant in the NIH Presidential Management Fellows’ (PMF) and Management Intern (MI) communities. He is also a member of the NIH Admin Hub budget group, the Federal Asian Pacific American Council of Washington, DC, and founder of the NIH Federated Asian Network or FAN.
In the past 15 years, Mr. Do has enjoyed mentoring interns from the NIH PMF and MI programs, helping them understand and explore the federal budget process and the critical role of budget and financial management in federal organizations. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from the University of Baltimore and has received NIH’s MERIT Award for his contributions to financial management.
