Dr. Xinli Nan is a scientific review officer in the Scientific Review Branch of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). Dr. Nan shares responsibility for planning and conducting initial scientific and technical merit reviews of all grant applications and contract proposals that are assigned to the NIMHD Scientific Review Branch, including Research Project Grants (R01s), Small Business Grants (R41s/42s, R43s/44s), Specialized Center Agreements (U54s), Loan Repayment Programs (L32s and L60s), Career Development Awards (K99s/R00s), Conference Grants (R13s), Cooperative Agreements (U24s), and Education Grants (R25s). Dr. Nan also serves on a committee for NIMHD’s Equity, Dignity, Inclusion and Respect Initiative.
Dr. Nan previously served as a health scientist administrator for the Division of Data Management and Scientific Reporting at NIMHD. He has also been a fellow at the National Cancer Institute, the American Red Cross Holland Laboratory, and a faculty researcher at the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Prior to joining NIMHD, Dr. Nan worked at the NIH Center for Scientific Review within the Immunology Integrated Review Group.
Dr. Nan earned his M.D. from Tongji Medical College in China in 1985. He also holds a master’s degree in microbiology and immunology from the National Vaccine and Serum Institute and the Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China, and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Ulm and the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Germany.
