Sheleka Turnbull, M.A

Sheleka Turnbull is the media relations and public affairs lead at NIMHD. She manages the flow of communication between the Institute and the media to promote the director and NIMHD's research and related activities.

Sheleka previously served as public relations officer in Jamaica, where she was responsible for media relations and web content. She also developed and implemented internal/external communications and public relations strategies to promote the government's policies and programs. Prior to this position, Sheleka worked as a public relations officer at Jamaica's Ministry of Health, where she focused on mental health, nutrition, maternal mortality, communicable and chronic diseases, and disaster management. She also participated in health promotion and protection campaigns, developing and disseminating communication materials disease prevention and control.

Sheleka holds a Master of Arts degree in communication studies from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics at the same institution.
